Trail Overview

This route takes you through the northern area of the Pole Mountain unit of Medicine Bow National Forest between Laramie and Cheyenne and provides access to numerous dispersed campsites. It is a well-graded road consisting of dirt and decomposed granite sand, with numerous bump rocks and water holes. The water holes may look intimidating and can certainly give your vehicle a nice red mud bath, but they have a firm bottom with plenty of traction.

Difficulty

Some erosion gullies, a few larger rocks, and some tight corners give this trail its rating. During dry conditions, this trail will not require 4WD and would be passable by any high-clearance vehicle.
