Trail Overview

Yellow Jacket is a 3.9-mile-long curvy single track with frequent intermediate rock and root obstacles. It makes a loop with a portion of 963 and provides an alternate route when riding 963 back to FS 1906. The trail has lots of sharp turns, and several sections with tight trees closely lining the trail. It has frequent steep climbs and descents, as it constantly goes up and down the rolling forested hills. Some of the climbs are looser dirt, with big loose rocks and roots, and it's a very dry and dusty terrain. There are short ledges and drop-offs from the embedded roots and rocks, and lots of moderate switchbacks and tight turns through the trees. This trail is slightly more difficult and longer than the portion of 963 that it makes a loop with, but is fun to take as an alternate option if wanting to bail out of 963.
