Trail Overview

This trail starts off easy with loose and hard-packed gravel with some dirt mixed in but it progressively gets worse the further down this trail you travel. The trail starts off wide but narrows at several points along the way. About 3 miles into this trail, you will come to a steep and sharp switchback. After this switchback the trail conditions drastically change and it becomes much more challenging. The last mile of this trail leading up the Three Corner Rock is very rocky with portions of very deep ruts and washouts. Lockers may be needed on portions of this last mile as you head up to Three Corner Rock.

As mentioned by the previous post the gate at 1400 connecting route was closed. Took the route from Dougan Falls. Downed tree blocked the last 2mi before the rock. Bring a saw and you can likely pass under it. Well worth the trip the views were excellent. Highly recommend the scramble up to the top of the rock.

Unbelievably fun and beautiful. Tried to take CG1400 but it was gated off, so had to loop all the way back towards/past Dougan Falls and go up to W1490, taking the same route out and back. Long drive but worth it. Most of the trail is a piece of cake, but the last mile involves a mildly gnarly switchback into a pretty bad road. My stock Outback Wilderness handled it just fine going slowly. So, so gorgeous at the top!

I started the trip to Three Corners Rock from the West side at Cape Horn Trailhead. Trail itself was easy and 2wd the entire time. Only used 4 to drive up last 100ft for fun. Wide with many passing opportunities. Nothing challenging but great views and a fun drive. The whole area is for logging and all gravel roads. Good thing was no washboards. Left the summit and returned to the east. It was a lot less fun and was just a wide gravel road back to the highway. Overall a great summit and view.

First two photos are the worst of the trail. I did most of it in 2WD, including the final mile. I switched to 4LO for one climb of the final mile. I did not need any lockers. If you’ve got 4” of ground clearance you’ll be able to make it. This trail was much easier than expected.

Great views up at three corner rock! Trail is a bit rocky but fairly easy to get through. Last mile or so gets a little tougher. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Beautiful views! Trail gets a little rough about a mile from the top. Once there, you’ll find a couple fun little hill climbs near the base of 3 Corner Rock. Highly recommend.

Only about the last mile was rough. Mostly just some loose rocks no real obstacles. Was able to cruise though in 4H the without lockers. Amazing views and fun climb up to the top of the rock.
