Trail Overview

Short Timers is a short but intermediate single track in the Walker Valley ORV system. The south end starts down the trail from the Short Timers Jeep Trail. You get to the good stuff right away, as there is a medium-embedded boulder obstacle right in the beginning, but there is an easier way around it. It continues with a very rocky surface, with roots across the trail and big round rocks. There are several more rock obstacles that are 1- 2 feet high. Although some of the sections appear to be challenging, it seems that on this trail, you're never forced into a single line up the harder parts. There are almost always multiple line choices and an easier path through the more difficult sections, which keeps it at an intermediate rating. However, the obstacles do come up fast as the trail is flowing through lots of tight turns, so although you can often take an easier line, you might get forced into the obstacle if not paying attention and come up to it too fast. At one point the trail is like riding up one big wide trough, where the trail is 2 feet below the forest level. Other times it's a skinnier flat trail that is really fast.

Difficulty

This is a moderate difficulty single track because there are frequent rock obstacles that are a foot high or taller, made from big roots crossing the trail, or embedded boulders. The trail remains an intermediate rating because there are often ways around most of the obstacles, making it where there is always an easier line.
