Trail Overview

Pomeroy Grouse Trail is a well-maintained forest service road. It is approximately two cars wide and is relatively free of obstacles. If you have time along this trail, make sure to check out the varying natural springs not far off the trail. A few names include Schneckloth Spring, stents spring, and pole manger spring. Approximately 8 miles into this trail you'll run into a right turn that is home to Clearwater lookout cabin and lookout tower. There is a well-maintained vault toilet restroom here and a small cabin. The cabin is able to be reserved year-round by reservation (it was closed while we were up there so I did not see inside) Clearwater Lookout cabin was built in 1935, the lookout tower itself is approximately 94 feet tall and was built in 1933. The tower is not regularly manned and is closed to public access.
