Trail Overview

This is a deep forest trail that constantly changes its terrain type. It alternates from loose gravel to hard-packed gravel and hard-packed dirt with some rocky area mixed in. There are deep ruts and washouts along this trail that will put the driver in slight off-camber positions. Some of these ruts and washouts will not be traversable by low-clearance vehicles. The trail is overgrown in some areas which may cause pinstriping. There is also some erosion on this trail that may worsen as time passes. You will encounter semi-deep mud pits and holes along with downed trees and limbs that protrude into the trail. A chainsaw is highly recommended. Most of this trail will be rough and slow going. This trail can be used to connect from the 1100 Axel Breaker Trail to the Lookout Mountain Trail. The trail may not be passable in the Winter months due to its elevation. The trail is very narrow at some points with limited options to pass but passing areas do exist. There are a few areas that could be used for dispersed camping.

A little rough, but not bad at all! Easily passable in a pickup truck or suv.

Very tame roads. Saw a stock Subaru up at Bluff Mountain Trailhead, so totally fine roads coming directly from Sunset Falls Campground. Going beyond was much of the same. Some sections of narrow road due to trees lining both sides, but minor bumps. Turned off the main trail up to Lookout Mt and was well worth the stop and view (last photo attached). Tons of wildflowers and berries

Trail is typically a 2 during dry months, super easy drive, decent potholes but manageable. Went to see some snow, about 3400ft we were pushing snow but doable. Saw a few other people in trucks and canams out and about. would rate a 4 or 5 in winter due to snow.
