Trail Overview

This is a forest road leading from Wilkeson up into the mountains. The trail starts off nice and wide (approx 3 car widths) and continues up varying paths that wiggle down to a single lane. There is a variety of terrain in this section from dirt, gravel, loose rock, and mud. At this point in the season, we were unable to complete the whole run due to the current snow/ice.

Difficulty

I chose a level 2 because I personally felt that this was not a challenging route. There are potholes and some loose rock but no ledge drops, large puddles or other additional obstacles. Please note there is currently some minor tree fall from winter season. I have a tall rig (7+ft) and was fine going under them but did go slow at I made contact with branches on occasion.

Easy trail, but an excessive amount of potholes the size of a crater. Loaded with tons of people. Shooting ranges everywhere there is an open space.

Scenic trail, lots of people out today, trucks, quads, dirt bikes, etc. the main trail is an easy road but watch for massive potholes lol. There’s a lot of off shoot trails as well that have some fun obstacles. A few small patches of snow at a little over 3k elevation but nothing to get excited about. Lots of fallen trees, many have been cut already but at a little past 3,100 ft elevation there were downed trees that stopped the trip.

1st couple of miles is clear. After that, you run into snow. But still passable for most 4X4 vehicles. A bit further up, there are many fallen trees 🌳. My stock F-250 rolled over them. Lower clearance vehicles might have issues @ that point.

Good road, but several places with large potholes. Up farther the road had places with lots of sharp rocks/uneven. Doable for anything with some clearance, had no problems in a stock F150.

Trail is sloppy with tons of sedan eating pot holes and ruts. There is a pretty good wash out along the trail and a mudslide. Both are passable 1 vehicle at a time. Hit some slush later towards the end but nothing to crazy. Trash is stillba major problem.

The road is in pretty good condition, muddy pot holes, and a few sections of rough ruts and standing water. This is a popular trail with lots of visitors in a variety of vehicles. Whoever made it up there in that Toyota Prius is an absolute boss behind the wheel!

Main trail is forest service road and passable by most vehicles. There are numerous large potholes filled with water and some areas with signs of wash out or slide. Most of the pull offs are littered with trash and signs of target shooting. (Please clean up your targets). There are side trails that are single track and require 4x4 and lifted vehicles. As of Mid Jan some signs of snow but roads are wet/muddy in spots

Roads are okay, potholes where pretty rough in some parts. Easy little day trip to hit some mud. Lots of fun, not that manny view points. In and out doesn’t connect with other trails in full size trucks.
