Trail Overview
Looking Glass is a 33.9-mile point-to-point trail that serves as the main (and only) route through this section of the Umatilla National Forest, connecting the town of Troy to Looking Glass - FS 63. The trail is a winding, single-lane road that provides access to numerous spur trails, viewpoints, and dispersed camping opportunities. While there is evidence of many spur trails, several are closed to motorized vehicles; refer to the Pomeroy District MVUM for the Umatilla National Forest for current access information. The route is restricted to highway-legal vehicles only. Looking Glass - Troy is open year-round.
Difficulty
As a winding, single-lane gravel road, Looking Glass - Troy is suitable for most 2WD and low-clearance vehicles when maintained during seasonal maintenance. Weather conditions, such as rain or snow, can significantly impact the difficulty. As with most trails in the area, bringing a chainsaw or equipment to clear fallen trees is recommended.
