Trail Overview
FS 9517427 is a 4.8-mile out-and-back route through Colville National Forest. This wide, single-lane dirt road includes several shelf-road sections and tight switchbacks as it climbs through the forest. The upper portion has been heavily damaged by logging equipment, with deep silt and a rough, uneven surface. A steep, tight switchback near the upper portion creates one of the more challenging sections of the route. FS 9517427 is open year-round to highway-legal vehicles.
Difficulty
FS 9517427 is rated easy. The lower portion is relatively straightforward, but the logging-damaged upper section is considerably rougher. Deep silt, shelf-road sections, and the steep, tight switchback can reduce traction and require careful vehicle placement. 4WD is recommended, particularly in the upper portion and during wet conditions.
