Trail Overview
FS 9400500 is an 8.2-mile out-and-back route through Colville National Forest. Access between FS 9400507 and Highway 20 is blocked by a year-round wildlife closure, so the route must be accessed via FS 9400510. The road has several rutted sections and becomes narrow and progressively more overgrown as it continues. An off-camber section adds some challenge near the end. Although the road physically continues farther, the MVUM shows it as closed beyond the mapped endpoint. The final portion of the legally open route is heavily overgrown and eventually becomes impassable. FS 9400500 is open seasonally to highway legal vehicles.
Difficulty
FS 9400500 is rated easy. Rutting, narrow brushy sections, and the off-camber area require careful driving, while heavy overgrowth eventually limits further travel. Expect significant pinstriping toward the end. Wet conditions may make the rutted and off-camber sections considerably more difficult.
