Capitol Forest E-Line

Capitol Forest E-Line is an easy-going 11.5-mile point-to-point route through Capitol State Forest, perfect for beginners and scenic cruisers looking to experience the quintessential lush greenery of the Pacific Northwest. Winding through dense, mossy forests, this well-traveled path climbs from an elevation of 343 feet up to a peak of 1,251 feet, with a cumulative elevation gain of approximately 1,550 feet. The trail consists primarily of hard-packed dirt that is easily traveled by two-wheel-drive vehicles under dry conditions, although four-wheel-drive is highly recommended for exploring the numerous unmaintained spur trails that branch off. Drivers should expect to share the corridor with ATVs, dirt bikes, SxSs, and active logging trucks, though the road is wide enough to provide frequent dirt pullouts and passing zones. Roughly six miles into the route, taking the E-3200 spur to the right leads up to a large quarry and shooting pit, where continuing further up the hillside opens up into a clear-cut clearing with expansive panoramic views above the tree line. Further along the main line, another prominent clearing on the left offers sweeping views down toward the town of Oakville. The route eventually descends back into the deep woods before terminating at the paved D-Line. Offroaders can turn left to head toward Highway 12 or turn right to connect to additional forestry roads and complete a loop.
