Trail Overview
The south end of Blazed Ridge starts at the intersection with Manastash Ridge and Greek Creek. The trail is unmarked from the southern entrance, but starts climbing north from the intersection along a ridge line. The trail is easy to start, with a bit of loose rock and loose dirt, but no major obstacles. Riders should use caution in exposed spots – the trail is pretty wide and stays on top of the ridge for the most part, but there are short segments where it gets close to the edge or side-hills with more exposure. The trail gets a bit rockier and more technical as it goes north, and starts descending through the trees with several moderate switchbacks that are tight but mostly rideable. There are a few notable trees closely lining the trail that encroach into the switchbacks. The trail mostly descends from south to north, losing over 1,600 feet of elevation in 3.2 miles, with a few short climbing sections that are steep and loose with embedded roots across the trail. The north end of the trail descends through a logged hillside and crosses a couple of logging roads before ending on Log Creek Road 4110. The trail was clear of any downfall by mid-July, as this trail system appears to be well maintained by local clubs that cut the trails in early summer.
Difficulty
This is an intermediate route because it has several tight switchbacks, exposed sections, loose rocky terrain, and steep climbs and descents. It is not overly difficult and doesn’t have major rock ledges, but riders need to use caution on the ridgeline in the narrow and exposed sections.
