Trail Overview

Beckler River Road is a comfortable gravel road with minimal potholes but a strong presence of washboard. This trail is well-groomed with a few bridges overlooking the river. Several hiking trails were noted along with plentiful areas to set up camp with a couple of areas off the road for more privacy. Cellular coverage was minimal to no coverage with AT&T. This route will take you up to Jack Pass and end at Index Galena Road. You will cross the North Fork Skykomish River just before the end of the trail. From Jack Pass to Skykomish River there is a very quick drop in elevation with switchbacks.

Washout
You must go in from skyhomish side, trail washes out right at the end towards the index side. Pretty easy trail otherwise. Some of the side spur trails also have washouts and higher clearance is needed. 1st gen Tacoma on 35s

Deep washout a couple miles in, can be driven through but the bank is quickly erroding making it pretty sketchy.

Impassable Water CrossingDowned TreeWashout
Due to intense water flow, a culvert was dug out and ejected with substantial erosion and undercutting of the road. While one side of the road maybe able to support vehicle weight, it is highly likely that driving over it might cause a sink hole and pose a dangerous risk.

Washout
Road is open all the way around, but trees are falling frequently. Would be wise to bring a saw. On the pavement road between the trail and the highway, there is a washout close to the Skykomish end. The was halfway across the road on 12/9 but may wash out further and require closing the road.

Easy trail ride. Great scenery. Small areas of rough rutted road. Lots of snags and tree falls along trail not blocking.

Muddy/WetSnow/Ice
A light layer of slushy snow from US2 to the end of pavement. Then as you climb in elevation snow base gets heavier. We had a solid foot of it by 1mile before Jack Pass. Soft, fresh powder snow with a little ice or packed snow beneath. We were in a mildly built Cherokee XJ and a stock Subaru Crosstrek with AT tires.
