Trail Overview
Trail #312 is a short singletrack in the Batey-Bould Trail System in the Colville National Forest in Washington. The trail goes through a dense wooded area of lodgepole pines and tall western red cedars. It’s mostly smooth, fast, and flowy dirt with only a bit of roots and loose rock. It has a road crossing with signs to warn you ahead of time. You can get going fast on this trail, but a few sections with whoops will slow you down. There’s a short section of a wide gravelly forested road that connects to another segment of singletrack. It follows the curvature of the hillside through the woods, with a couple more rutted and trenched side-hilling sections with a few roots. Expect a couple of easy switchbacks that are mild and gradual, often reinforced with cinderblocks to prevent erosion. The trail starts directly from the staging area and ends at an intersection with 306 after 1.3 miles, gaining over 600 feet in elevation.
Difficulty
This is an easy trail, although it has some short climbing sections with multiple easy switchbacks. Expect lots of twisty turns through the forested hilltop with tight maneuvering in the trees. Overall, it’s ideal for less experienced riders in a low-consequence environment.
