Trail Overview

This is a 5.2-mile-long segment of ATV trail. It starts on the east end at the Little Pend Oreille ORV Trailhead, and it goes south through some flat meadows past a couple of nice dispersed campsites. After passing the intersection with the Clark Creek Single Track, it starts climbing through a dense forest of lodgepole pines, with several reinforced bridges to prevent rutting and erosion. It keeps climbing up with lots of zig-zagging and tight turns for about 4 miles until the intersection with Radar Dome. Then it descends slightly until an intersection where Trail 142 turns back into single track designation. It’s a very well-maintained trail system, so any downfall will likely get cut by late spring. You’ll cross several bridges that are just wide enough for 50-inch vehicles. Most of the trail is appropriate width for ATVs, but a few corners in the trees will feel tight and narrow, with a few of the switchbacks feeling a bit more sloped and off-camber. A lot of the trail is just easy smooth dirt, with short steep climbs and descents; however, there are several sections that are more full of roots or rocks. Overall, it’s still very easy through, with no major obstacles. It’s a fun one for less experienced ATV riders.
