The Wildcat Hills loop is an ideal route for novice offroaders and families looking for an approachable yet scenic desert ride in western Box Elder County, Utah. Spanning approximately 15 miles, this loop features rolling dirt trails with gentle elevation changes ranging from 4,414 to nearly 4,900 feet, making it perfect for all-terrain vehicles, SxSs, and high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles. As a designated Utah State Parks ATV day ride, the trail weaves through the arid sagebrush landscape near the Wildcat Hills, offering panoramic views of distant peaks like Black Butte to the west and the vast desert basin. The terrain consists primarily of unpaved dirt and gravel doubletrack with only a few minor obstacles, such as shallow ruts or sandy washes, which can be easily negotiated or bypassed by less experienced drivers.
Staging for this route is easily accessible from State Route 30 or Wildcat Mountain Road, allowing quick access to a network of surrounding public lands. Offroaders can easily extend their adventure by exploring nearby riding areas like the Hogup Mountains, Bull Mountain, Grouse Creek, and the unique rock formations of Devils Playground.
