Trail Overview
Westside "E" Mountain is an easy, scenic 1.9-mile trail near Enterprise, Utah, that is perfect for beginners, families, and offroaders looking for a quick getaway with spectacular canyon and town views. With a technical rating of 3, this route offers a relaxed drive that is suitable for most high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and dirt bikes. The trail begins near Black Canyon and Pendleton Spring, climbing gently from an elevation of 5,431 feet to a peak of 5,756 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 176 feet. Along the way, the unpaved surface consists mostly of dirt and gravel with some washboard and potholes, making it a highly accessible track for those looking to experience the beautiful Utah desert landscape.
As the trail winds along the west side of the mountain, offroaders can explore several established camping spots with fire rings located at both ends of the route, making it an excellent spot for an overnight stay. A short offshoot leads to an old mining hole with loose, cinder-like rock that provides a fun area to play around in or use as a shooting backdrop. Heavier vehicles may need to air down their tires to safely navigate this loose, sandy section by the mine, though it can easily be avoided. With reliable cell service boasting up to three bars of LTE coverage throughout the drive, this trail blends backcountry recreation with convenient connectivity, making it a great addition to any offroad itinerary in the area.
