Calf Spring

This easy two-lane washboard and somewhat rutted trail heads into the hills and passes the Calf Springs Creek and Holt Reservoir. There are several camping spots and even a few near the water if that's your jam. As the trail continues into the hills, there are vast meadows and sprawling vistas. Two bars of LTE service is going to keep those text messages coming in. There's a good-sized turnaround at the end of the trail in front of the Randalls Ranch gate. Rate it a 2. Probably no winter maintenance and gets super slimy and muddy when wet.
