Trail Overview
Utah Hill Road is a short but scenic four-wheel-drive trail ideal for intermediate offroaders looking to explore the rugged terrain near Tahoari Peak. Starting off Old-US Highway 91, this out-and-back route spans nearly four miles round-trip and climbs approximately 735 feet into the mountains, offering stunning views down the mountainside. The trail begins with a relatively easy dirt surface but quickly transitions into a more demanding rocky track as the elevation increases. Drivers will navigate increasingly technical terrain, including off-camber sections and large rocks that demand careful tire placement.
High-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles or capable SxSs are highly recommended to safely negotiate the upper portions of the route, which carries a technical rating of 5. As the trail approaches its end near Tahoari Peak, it becomes narrow and significantly overgrown, making it best suited for narrower utility vehicles, quads, or dirt bikes if continuing past the brush. This route is typically accessible year-round, though winter weather can bring mud or snow that increases the difficulty. Drivers should plan for a slow, methodical crawl over the rocky obstacles and expect to turn around once the brush becomes too dense for larger rigs.
