Trail Overview

If the TNT trail wasn't challenging enough, the crawler community had to figure out how to make it more difficult and TNT Extended was born. TNT Extended is a 0.8-mile point-to-point trail rated 9 of 10 located within the Sand Mountain Open Off-Highway Vehicle Area. Although usually referred to as Sand Hollow this is not part of the state park but managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This trail is for highly skilled drivers looking for extremely challenging terrain. In order to get to TNT Extended, one must either run the first quarter mile of TNT or run the last portion of TNT backwards. The trail starts at the bottom of the sandy wash where TNT turns east. Looking straight ahead is the TNT Extended gatekeeper an imposing waterfall that banks to the driver's side in order to complete the obstacle. From there it is a series of slick rock climbs, sandy transitions, and pinching V-notches. Not quite as difficult as TNT itself, never the less, it offers some challenging obstacles for the experienced driver. This section of the trail does offer views of the Sand Hollow State Park, the Zion National Park in the distance, and Pine Valley Mountain. Cell phone service is generally good. The nearest services are located in Hurricane.
