Trail Overview
This trail section begins at the Spry Cemetery. This is a historic cemetery and is worth the stop to walk around and see the family names of many who risked everything to homestead this area. You are also just west of the location where Fort Stanford was located in the late 1800s. Nothing remains of that fort today. This trail is a portion of what can be combined with two other trails to make a fun loop of approximately 45 miles, all rated in the easy category. There is a small trailhead area that can support approximately 4-5 trailers/vehicles at the cemetery. A much better option is to go into Panguitch to the rodeo/fairgrounds. Check out the getting there section for more details. This trail has two features you may want to explore. One is an old rock quarry, and the other is a very interesting rock formation with an adventuresome owl. The views alone are worth the short walk. On this trail, you will pass through a section of Forest Service land.
Difficulty
This trail has additional obstacles, and part of the two-track section has some larger washes that may be an issue for low-clearance vehicles. There are also some narrow sections with mature sagebrush on both sides that may add some pinstriping to your wider vehicles. There are some rocks, so if your vehicle has lower clearance, be cautious.
