Trail Overview

Non-Resident OHV permits apply to ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. Plated street-legal vehicles typically do not need one on legal motorized routes. This route provides an easy connection between Salt Valley Gorge and Long Valley while passing through wide-open ranch country and scenic desert terrain. The trail is generally straightforward, making it a good option for travelers who want a relaxed drive without major technical obstacles. Because the area is active ranchland, drivers should stay alert for free-roaming cows on or near the route, as well as the occasional reminder they leave behind on the trail. A few small washouts appear along the way, adding minor changes in terrain that are easy to manage with moderate speeds. There is also one slightly steeper hill that must be climbed and descended, but it is not especially difficult in dry conditions. Beyond that, the route remains simple and enjoyable. One of the highlights is the surrounding scenery, with large rock formations and scattered boulders visible throughout the drive, adding visual interest to an otherwise easy connector trail.
