Trail Overview
This road is a beautiful ride that takes you through some of the most spectacular red sandstone cliff faces and majestic views you can imagine. This area recently suffered a devastating fire that destroyed many of the trees and lower vegetation. The views are still spectacular, but it will take time for the trees to return. This trail can vary in difficulty depending upon the time of year and recent meteorological events. Deep snows in the winter and severe thunderstorms in the summer can turn Proctor Canyon (creek) into a raging torrent that can wash out the road or make it very dangerous. This does not happen often, but it can, so if you are planning a trip in this area, it is a good idea to contact the local rangers to assess the status of Proctor Canyon. This is a well-used road by locals, so they do keep it open as much as possible.

Difficulty
This road is a two-lane road that narrows as you climb in elevation. Some of the corners are sharp and will hide oncoming traffic, so keep your speed under control. There are rocks on the road, but they should pose no problem for most vehicles with higher clearance. The road does climb substantially, so a good set of tires is a plus.
