Trail Overview

Paiute ATV Trail Cottonwood Canyon Trail 77 is an incredible high-elevation alpine adventure designed for ATV, SxS, dirt bike, and high-clearance four-wheel-drive enthusiasts looking to explore the rugged beauty of the Tushar Mountains. Starting near the historic town of Marysvale, Utah, this 63-mile route branches off near the famous Bullion Falls and the Miners' Park historical site in Bullion Canyon. From there, the trail climbs steeply with a series of switchbacks, reaching a maximum elevation of nearly 11,500 feet. Along the ascent, travelers are treated to spectacular vistas of Delano Peak, the highest summit in the Tushar Mountains, alongside remnants of late 19th-century gold and silver mining history. The route features a technical rating of 4, presenting moderate challenges with some rocky sections, narrow trails, and steep climbs, though it remains highly manageable for experienced riders and properly equipped vehicles. With over 13,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain, the journey takes you through transitioning ecosystems ranging from high-desert shrublands to dense pine and aspen forests. Due to the extreme high elevations, the trail is typically accessible from late spring through autumn, as heavy snowpack lingers well into the summer months. Riders should prepare for rapid weather changes and ensure their vehicles are in top mechanical condition to handle the elevation and remote mountain terrain.

Second try on this trail. Same failure with deep snow coming in from the south. Still worth the ride even having to double back. Went down the 40756 trail to the Cottonwood Trailhead to get a quick hike in. Beautiful area in the bottom of the canyon but found the trail pretty overgrown.

Trail is obscured by snow at the north intersection of the revenue gulch trail. USFS has lifted restrictions and gates are open, just currently very impassible.
