Oak Basin (FS# 40144)

Oak Basin is a beautiful location in southern Utah, accessible only to off-roaders and hikers. You come up out of the City Creek Canyon and enter this expansive, gorgeous valley teeming with oak brush. In the fall, the colors in this area will be amazing. There is plenty of feed and water, so wildlife viewings are likely. There are a couple of places where even in late June there was water running on or near the trail. And there is a water tank for livestock, so this area is used for grazing as well. You move in and out of forests, and travel along in the shadow of the majestic mountains to the north and west. This trail also is part of Paiute Side Trail 34. Don't forget, to off-road in UT you need to have the online education course certificate as well as the OHV sticker.
