Trail Overview
Navajo Drive is an easy, 1.9-mile dirt route near St. George, Utah, that serves as a gateway to an expansive network of off-highway vehicle trails, shooting areas, and popular mountain biking paths. Starting on paved road in the Bloomington area, the route quickly transitions to a well-graded dirt road suitable for all vehicle types, including two-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and four-wheel-drive rigs. There is a convenient staging area and parking lot at the beginning of the dirt section, making it an excellent launching point for exploring the surrounding Bureau of Land Management public lands. The route climbs gently from an elevation of 2,558 feet to 2,673 feet, offering a minor 129-foot elevation gain with a very gentle gradient that makes for an exceptionally smooth, technical-rating-1 ride.
As you head west along the route, the surrounding terrain transforms into a web of endless OHV and singletrack biking trails, including the highly popular Bearclaw Poppy trail system directly to the north. Visitors should be mindful of the heavy mixed-use traffic, as mountain bikers, hikers, and offroaders frequently share this recreation playground. Recreational shooting is common and permitted on the western end of the trail, so visitors should expect to hear gunfire in that area. Since this is a highly sensitive desert environment, staying on designated trails is crucial to preserving access for future motorized recreation.
