Trail Overview

Milt's Mile Lite Trail follows along the edge of the more difficult Milt's Mile Trail. This trail is rated 4 out of 10 based upon a couple of the obstacles along the route. This trail can be run by a stock high clearance 4x4. At almost any point on this trail, a driver can drop into Milt's Mile and attempt one of the more difficult 6 or 7 rated obstacles. This trail affords spectacular views of Pine Valley Mountain, Sand Hollow Reservoir, Hurricane Cliffs, and Zion Park. Milt's Mile Lite trailhead begins just to the west of the Sand Hollow State Park tunnel. A couple of slickrock climbs provide a good warm-up and an opportunity to see what stock-clearance vehicles are capable of doing. As the trail crests the first ridge, it turns south and continues up the hill. Drivers have the option to drop back down to Milt's Mile and climb "The Bowl"-a pretty tough obstacle. Careful driving and good spotting will award drivers with a sense of accomplishment. Continuing on, drivers have a chance to check their clearance in a couple of spots. An overlook stop near the top of this section is a good spot to watch the show as the 7-rated Milt's Mile vehicles negotiate tough obstacles such as "3-Monkeys" and "The Sluice" in the canyon below. The trail will continue on past infamous obstacles such as "Hard Right Turn" and "Hard Left Turn". A short trip along the base of some nice rock formations, including a large hoodoo, and you are out of the canyon. Be sure to stop at this point and enjoy the views looking back. From here, cross over a broken fence line and turn back north. As you descend the mountain back towards the lake there are several additional obstacles to negotiate before the trail ends at Waddy's Corral (formerly Water Tanks).

The eastern section of this trail shares obstacles with Milt’s Mile, everything there has bypasses if something looks too intense. The western half that descends back down to the water tanks has less (or no) bypasses with some bigger ledge descents. Didn’t have any trouble following the trail back to the water tanks. One part of the wash on the way back is pretty narrow, you’ll likely want sliders in a full size vehicle, and several in the group had to take their side steps off to make it through. Overall this was a fun trail with gorgeous views!

Milts mile lite is very difficult to navigate and is impassable the last 1/4 to 1/3 mile, on your descent back to Fenceline road. Had to detour to risky business, follow it for a short distance until we were able to complete the descent on unnamed trails. Screen shot of 1 of many unnamed trails required to complete the descent. Would never of made it down without onX.

This was a fun trail lots of technical obstacles. Second set of eyes was incredibly helpful there were a few spots that were a little sketchy. It’s easy to end up on the wrong trail so take your time. I have 35s and a 3” lift still has a few bumps and scrapes.

Trail description and onx path is accurate for the most part. With all of these apps, there are always a few spots that will trick you in real life and require getting back on the highlighted path. I started at the water tanks and later saw arrows going the opposite direction so it might be best advised to start at the tunnel especially at busier times. I did the trail solo and had several places I had to get out and make sure I wasn’t going to do something too sketchy. No problems with a Jeep Jk on 37s locked front and rear. Needed the lockers in a few spots. Might have got away without them if I had another set of eyes. Not too difficult but would not go alone without a capable rig or a little bit of experience.
