Trail Overview
This trail is a rough out-and-back trail that travels from the end of Johnson Bench Trail to Cliff Lake. This trail is rocky throughout, with a few rockier sections that will provide a challenge when heading back from Cliff Lake, as they will be steeper uphill climbs with lots of loose rock and some larger rocks embedded in the trail. There are also multiple water crossings and shallow mudholes along the trail, with the most notable being at the end of the trail, where the last 1/4 mile or so you will be driving through the creek to reach the lake, with a couple of deeper pools in the flow as well as most of it just being a small amount of water flowing over the rocks until you reach the Cliff Lake dam. Be sure to keep in mind that this water is flowing and flows into the lake and will be pushing against you on the way out in the deeper pools. This trail stays in the trees with some tighter sections scattered throughout where passing other vehicles could be a challenge. This trail is open to all vehicles and has a set seasonal closure date, but will be impassable due to deep snow during the winter and spring months.
Difficulty
The deepest of the creek crossings is right around 10 to 12 inches deep, as well as having a short hill climb covered in loose rock, as well as a few sections of larger rocks embedded in the trail that form a small ledge to climb up.
