Trail Overview

This is a short firebreak road that starts at the base of Farmington Canyon and dead ends shortly after a creek crossing. There are signs at the trailhead warning about a gate ahead, but this doesn't mean the road is closed; it just means you can't drive to the road that is after the gate. This trail is open year-round but may be impassible due to snow or muddy conditions. Be sure to stay on the road, as some of the surrounding area is private property. There are only a couple of major obstacles on this trail, which are a rocky hill climb and a shallow creek crossing. Larger trucks may have difficulty turning around at the end of the trail. Be sure to watch out for pedestrians, as the road is a popular hiking path as well as the starting point for many others.

Pretty busy and lively. Passed a few trucks. Lots of hikers, so watch out for them. My first gen Tacoma made it easily but some full size trucks might catch some pinstriping at the end of the trail. But you can turn around before then. Good trail

Lots of dirt bikers and pedestrians today. Nice folks, everybody waved. Cyclists never wave. Lightly muddy, some of the standing water from two days ago has dried but many large puddles remain. Easy going. Beautiful weather and view today.

No other vehicles, but hikers with dogs and cyclists. A couple tight turns for the F350 but easy trail. Terminates at a locked gate with a hiking trail where I had to do an Austin Powers-style 20-point U-turn. Short enough to keep my 7-year-old engaged but long enough to be worth it. I didn’t air down because it’s an extra 35 minutes of waiting and that’s a quarter of the time we spent total without doing it, trail was still fine at 65PSI.

A few small puddles a few inches deep, most of the trial is pretty tame with some steeper/rocky parts. Roll typically under 5 degrees with some spots being 10 degrees.

Fun trail. Getting to this you’ll enter through Farmington Canyon Road. It’s a one way trail, you’ll cross a stream towards the end and arrive to a gate near Steed Creek turn back the same way you came in. Plenty of space for you to turn back around. Some areas here you’ll want to take your time with how rocky it gets.
