Trail Overview

This trail offers a fantastic and efficient way to experience the breathtaking vistas of the Utah and Idaho mountain ranges. Beginning at the First Point Boat Ramp parking lot, the trail offers a rugged adventure right from the start. Be aware that during peak seasons, the lot can get crowded with trucks and boat trailers. The trail is a rocky road, marked by some challenging sections, including significant washouts and a few tricky rock gardens. As you make your way around the first bend, the path will trace along a fence line, guiding you toward the base of the mountain. Here, the real climb begins. About half a mile into the ascent, you'll encounter your first lookout point--a perfect spot to pause, take in the view, and let your machine cool down. The terrain in this section is particularly rough, with washouts ranging from 1 to 3 feet in depth and width. Take it slow, and exercise caution here. The next stretch is a steep, rocky climb through a large rock garden. It demands your full attention but rewards you with a gradual ascent to the top. Once you reach the summit, the panoramic views of Bear Lake are nothing short of spectacular--a true reward for your effort on this adventurous trail.

Difficulty

The Rock Garden is steep and will require some climbing momentum. The washout ruts in the center of the road can cause you to fall on your side, this requires the ability to know where your machine is on the trail. This road is narrow with trees. I would not recommend taking a Jeep up there.

A fun trail, but not a 7 out of 10. Under normal conditions id say 4 to 5. 4 if you're familiar with diving hard trails in your vehicle. 5 if you a less familiar. It does require decent clearance and careful tire placement over the ruts but is otherwise a no spotter trail. Also you'd better be okay with pinstripes because a car will be brushing up against the bush frequently. Killer views though. Trail was narrow with decent size rock gardens and step ups. Beautiful views throughout.
