Trail Overview

Great family outing to see a historic trail. Stop at the rebuilt relay station used by the Pony Express riders. Keep an eye open for the wild horse herd; they might be shy but can be seen in the distance. Geodes are round hollow rocks that are filled with crystals, and collection is allowed. You will need to dig them up or find some that have been discarded. You can cut them with a wet saw or break them with a hammer. Take plenty of water it gets very hot during summer.

Difficulty

This is a poorly maintained dirt road with many bumps, loose rocks, and areas of sand.
