Trail Overview

Docs Beach is a 4.6-mile looping trail rated 7 of 10 located in Uintah County, Utah. Doc's Beach is one of the pinnacle trails of the Vernal area and has become well-known for its grippy sandstone surface, moon-like appearance, and some of the greatest scenery that can only be seen from this trail. With views of the lush Dry Fork Canyon lined with huge rock cliff canyon walls. The trail starts out with the Gatekeeper obstacle a steep waterfall followed by a long steep off-camber slickrock climb. Other named obstacles along the trail are "No Mercy," "Big Kahuna," "Tilted Kilt," "Twin Caves," "The Squeeze," "Riptide," and the infamous straddle of "Deer Crack." Thrill seekers will appreciate Doc's Beach, one of the toughest ATV trails in Vernal, Utah. It's mainly grippy sandstone, making for a fun but tricky ride. This is considered an advanced run, be prepared for steep climbs, ledges, and overhangs. Cell phone service is intermittent.

Difficulty

The trail consists of rock, sand, and considerable slickrock with many steps exceeding 48". Steep inclines and declines are prevalent. Enhanced off-road equipment is required including locking devices (front & rear), 35" tires, maximum vehicle ground clearance, and winch points. A winch is desirable. Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is likely. Rollover possibilities exist.

beautiful rock canyons. many great view points. A instant favorite. Yamaha YXZ with a aftermarket low 1st gear. there are plenty of optional trails that are 8 to 10 difficulty. good staging areas with overnight dry camping.
