Trail Overview

Davis Hollow Overlook winds across a sagebrush ridge, around several ponds to the overlook locations for Davis Hollow. The trail is rocky in places, and there is one short rocky hill. It's narrow, but an easy track. The trail ends at a nice grove of trees, and it's just a short walk to the canyon rim. This area is used for cattle grazing in the summertime, so you're likely to see them around the water holes. Be sure to close any gates that you open. Even on a warm summer day, this trail is high enough to get a break from the heat in the valley. Don't forget to get your online education course certificate to legally off-road in Utah.

Difficulty

Some rocks on the trail are less than 12", and one hill with loose rocks, and areas of erosion, but easy nonetheless.

History

If you're a history buff, there is much to learn in southern Utah about Butch Cassidy, who called Circleville, UT, his boyhood home, and the other outlaws he ran with. There is much to learn about the early miners in this area, about the pioneers who settled this area, about the farming and ranching that established the earliest grazing wars, and about the sawmill that operated on top of the Sevier Plateau.
