Trail Overview
This remote desert route crosses a stark and beautiful badlands landscape filled with eroded hills, layered mesas, and wide-open views in every direction. The trail begins as a simple two-track across open flats before dropping into shallow washes and winding through narrow drainages lined with loose dirt, rock, and scattered ruts. Several sections show signs of water erosion, with cut banks, muddy low spots, and uneven surfaces that can change after storms. Further in, the road climbs and descends through rolling terrain where traction and line choice become more important, especially on loose or slick clay-like soil. The surrounding scenery feels isolated and untouched, with colorful ridges, weathered formations, and dramatic skies adding to the sense of adventure. The route eventually comes to an end where the original path has been reclaimed by mother nature, with erosion and time slowly erasing what was once a passable road. This is the kind of trail that rewards travelers looking for solitude, scenery, and a reminder that the desert always gets the final say.
Difficulty
Most of the trail appears manageable for stock high-clearance 4x4s in dry weather, but recent rain can quickly increase difficulty because of wet sand and wash damage. Careful tire placement and moderate ground clearance are helpful in the rougher sections. The reclaimed end section is more of a turnaround point than a technical obstacle.
