Trail Overview

This route connects Red Wash Road to the White Dunes open riding OHV area and is all about sand, speed, and open desert fun. The trail surface is entirely sandy, with broad washes and loose terrain stretching along both sides of the route. Because the landscape is wide open with long sightlines, it can feel fast and inviting, but that same openness means extra caution is needed for oncoming traffic and cross traffic from other recreation users. Expect to share the area with four-wheelers, dirt bikes, side-by-sides, and other off-road vehicles moving at different speeds and from different directions. Staying alert and keeping your head on a swivel is just as important as traction here. In dry conditions, this is a straightforward route that serves as a gateway to the larger White Dunes riding area. It is less about technical obstacles and more about enjoying the freedom of open desert terrain.

Difficulty

There are no major rock obstacles or technical climbs, but the all sand surface can challenge traction and momentum, especially for heavier vehicles or inexperienced drivers. The biggest hazard is not terrain, but rather sharing an open riding area with fast-moving ATVs, dirt bikes, and side-by-sides.
