Trail Overview

This well-maintained graded road runs from Highway 39 to Old Canyon and Curtis Creek Guard Station. From the end of the road, you can either go back the way you came or go down the mountain differently. There is tons of dispersed camping throughout the road as it winds through the forest and clearings. This road is open year-round but is inaccessible once they close Highway 39 for the winter and could be impassable due to deep snow. Along the way, there are multiple springs that you pass that are marked with signs.

14 miles from highway 39 there are multiple large trees across road completely blocking. There is no way around them.

Cleared a lot of trees with my winch but needed a chainsaw towards the end of the trail to clear a large obstruction

Curtis creek is open all the way to old canyon rd. There are a couple of tight spots where trees have been cut to allow passage, but haven’t been totally removed. Mostly dry. Great time to get out there before it gets busy.

Fall colors are absolutely popping out here right now. There were a few hunters and campers about but pretty quiet out this morning. Some sections have become a bit wash boarded so use caution.
