Trail Overview

Centerville Firebreak Road runs from Bountiful to Farmington, following the benches above the neighborhoods. It is an easy, scenic drive that makes for a great short trip between Ward and Farmington Canyons. The road runs along the benches, staying high enough to overlook the valley and Antelope Island. The road is mostly dirt with many smaller rocks, but there are sections of gravel and short stretches of pavement near parking areas for different sections of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. On the southern end, the road tends to be wide enough for two vehicles and is less rocky, while on the northern end, it narrows to one vehicle's width and becomes rockier and steeper. The road is open year-round but may be impassable due to snow in the winter, and there are areas with large dips that fill with water during wetter seasons. The road passes through a mix of forest and private land, so be sure to stay on the designated route, with the exception of the OHV bowl at Duel Creek South Trailhead or any of the parking areas for the many hiking trails. This road also has popular non-motorized use, so keep your speeds down and watch out for other people.

First time trying a trail since I’m a bit new to this stuff. Started on the bountiful end first in my 2004 Silverado 2500. Some parts in the beginning & middle got a bit steep and rocky but cleared out a bit after. Definitely would attempt again.

Washed put section is hard with fresh snow, the candy soil with snow is a bad combination, there is enough room to squeeze past the ruts however.

Great little trail for a quick afternoon when you want to get out but don’t have much time. For those of you who haven’t been, most of it is super easy going, but there are a few spots that a definitely rated 3. Easy tho if you take your time.

Fun little trail. Some areas feel a little sketchy with how much roll you can get into. Take it nice and slow. There are some joggers, ATVs using it as well

Started from Bountiful side. No snow along the trail. There were a couple of mud puddles closer to the Farmington end. Parts of the trail can be very rocky and fairly steep, so just use caution when you get to those points. Overall a fun drive.

Took our F-150 and F-350 out today, started on the Bountiful end and made it to the Parrish access in Centerville. Just pass the access road, there is a downhill descent into a left turn that is frozen over and the front wheels of my F-350 started to slide so we decided to turn back. Would likely be accessible in a SXS or similar that could avoid the left side more.

Icy road in some spots but most of the snow has been melted off the road. None of the puddles were extremely deep but they were all iced over with about 1-2 inch thick ice. There is alot of tracks through the snow off the road of people going around the puddles however so please stay on the road! I ended up having to also clear a large rock and a tree branch that had fallen across the road.

Trail open. Damp in north-slope stretches. 5th Gen RAV4 hybrid on stock wheels can do this, but you have to pick your lines in many spots. 2WD and/or less clearance would really struggle. Nice views but not high enough to get above the inversion.
