Trail Overview
Centerville Firebreak Road runs from Bountiful to Farmington, following the benches above the neighborhoods. It is an easy, scenic drive that makes for a great short trip between Ward and Farmington Canyons. The road runs along the benches, staying high enough to overlook the valley and Antelope Island. The road is mostly dirt with many smaller rocks, but there are sections of gravel and short stretches of pavement near parking areas for different sections of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. On the southern end, the road tends to be wide enough for two vehicles and is less rocky, while on the northern end, it narrows to one vehicle's width and becomes rockier and steeper. The road is open year-round but may be impassable due to snow in the winter, and there are areas with large dips that fill with water during wetter seasons. The road passes through a mix of forest and private land, so be sure to stay on the designated route, with the exception of the OHV bowl at Duel Creek South Trailhead or any of the parking areas for the many hiking trails. This road also has popular non-motorized use, so keep your speeds down and watch out for other people.
