Trail Overview

This trail goes from Notom-Bullfrog Road to Capitol Reef National Park over the Waterpocket Fold. Once the trail enters Grand Staircase a couple of miles from the top, it becomes a paved road. It winds its way up the Waterpocket Fold in several steep switchbacks. There is a nice overlook at the top. It then carries you out of the Park and into Grand Staircase-Escalante.

Difficulty

The only difficulty here are the ledges of the switchbacks.

Hwy 276 to the Burr trail brings you to the Switch backs from the bottom. We were alone until we reached the top of the Switch Backs. The trail had lots of washboarding. The rest of the trail to Boulder was breathtaking with lots of opportunities to take pictures.
