Trail Overview

This short trail consists of a mix of hard-packed gravel and dirt, with a few sections of pavement in between, making a nice drive from the Lockhart area to the Luling area. You will pass a multitude of ranches and pastures that show off central Texas' beautiful scenery. You will also see cows, donkeys, horses, and goats on these farms. It is an easy drive with no water crossings or large obstacles. There are not any specific landmark or scenic areas to stop at along the way, but you are unlikely to come across many other vehicles, so stopping for a short period on the side of the road seems fine. There is a gas station near the halfway point if needed but there are not any areas for camping. As the roads border many private ranches, do not take other dirt roads you see off this trail as they are likely private driveways.

Took this beautiful route right after it started pouring and it was a beautiful sight. Several double rainbows and so much farm life. Don’t drive silly thru the trials please as I saw a couple 7-8 year olds on 4-wheels and their parents of course. Barely anything to be worried about in my little SEDAN!

This route shouldn't even be saved on here. Less than 1 mile was gravel and even that was some the smoothest gravel roads I've ridden on my Adventure Bike

Follow the gps make the turn and continue straight.confused me at first because the trail starts out as regular pavement but slightly further down is where the off-road trail begins.. was riding out the for approximately 2 hours…light gravel easy for most off road vehicles…random goats and loose dogs may appear in the road but nothing to be overly cautious about…had a great time

It’s a nice, quiet trail! You’ll see plenty of cattle and the occasional deer. I didn’t encounter any other vehicles or people, but there’s quite a bit of private property -please respect it 👍

Decent Sunday drive with only a few folks on the trail, and one other potential OnX user. Simple first trail for getting familiar with the app. Some of the adjacent public roads looked interesting.

Route is exactly as named. Back roads. It's almost entirely paved. Where it is dirt/gravel, it's smoother than the pavement. Not much to see, cool old bridge, a cemetery, old fireplace where a house once stood and cows. Highlight of my excursion was a bobcat running across the road on McNeil Creek.

Actually nicer than I thought, came in expecting it to be lame but the scenery was really good.

Started from Luling until I reached FM1322. It was an easy chill drive. A nice option if you want to avoid high speed traffic. A lot of cows to look at as you pass between ranches. Some areas can get dusty so you'll want to roll up your windows if you see a car headed your way.

Take the scenic route! Average speeds around 20-25 mph. Not much in the way of structures to look at except for the abandoned bridge. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SET FOOT ON THIS BRIDGE. It's held together by interlocked rust flakes, termites holding hands, hope, and stale prayers. If traveling with multiple vehicles, be sure to leave PLENTY of following gap between vehicles as the lead vehicle will kick up quite the dust cloud. There are several totally blind corners and crests so be especially aware of the dust around these. Overall, I brought Land Rover just in case but my wife's Toyota Highlander would have been plenty fine. At it's worst, it's just rough country road. Great route for a Saturday family cruise on the way to Lockhart for BBQ.
