Trail Overview

This is a meandering dirt road through the high desert and hills of Big Bend Ranch State Park. This is the most direct route to Madrid Falls Overlook & Chorro Vista Campground. One of, if not the most, scenic views in the park. The road is not heavily traveled and relatively unmaintained, and narrow, with few places to pull over for pictures or oncoming traffic.

Difficulty

There are a couple areas of steep elevations, small rock ledges, and dry wash creek beds. It's a good idea to check with the ranger station on current trail conditions. Inclement weather can wash out the road and make it difficult or impassible.

BBRSP has this road categorized as 2WD High Clearance. It is maintained when needed, but not on a scheduled program. Please change allowed vehicles to reflect only Street Legal vehicles. Full size and Full width are acceptable.

This trail shows it is assessable by dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs, and SXSs. Big Bend State Park park Rangers said this is ONLY assessable by vehicles that are legal to drive on the interstate highways. And those types of vehicles are NOT allowed. This needs to be corrected, as we went by this guide and showed up with our SXSs and was turned away. No other areas in the Big Bend areas nor any areas including Terlingua does not have any places to trail ride these types of vehicles.
