Trail Overview

The first 1.7 miles are lightly paved, and then it quickly turns into dirt. There are multiple low water crossings on this road, and one river crossing. The river bottom is a large limestone slab that is relatively flat, giving no issues to drive over. The remaining low water crossings will have water in them if there has been any precipitation in the area. The bottom of those crossings are all concrete. The rest of the trail is a graded dirt road; there are grazing cattle in the area, as well as private property on both sides of the road.

Very easy going trail. Some parts were gravel with red dirt. Only one section I needed the hill control descent. All water crossings were easily passable. 2WD vehicle can make it. Would recommend a 4WD after heavy rains. I highly recommend this trail for a beginner. When you get to the end of James river road make a left. You will hit the Llano river with a place to park and hang out at the river!

We ran from Mason to the south, the roads were in good shape but could tell it had been muddy the previous week. The water crossings had 6 to 8 inches of water in the deepest points.
