Trail Overview
FS 518A is a tighter forest road that cuts through the piney woods of Davy Crockett National Forest. The trail is narrow in spots with trees close to the road, giving it a more enclosed feel than some of the other routes in the area. It runs mostly dirt with muddy sections and leads to a solid campsite at the end, tucked back in the woods with plenty of space to set up.

Difficulty
On this trail, you'll find a narrow dirt path with tight sections, muddy areas, and occasional ruts. After rain, the mud can get slick and hold water, making traction more of a factor. The tight spacing between trees can make certain parts feel more technical, especially if you're in a wider vehicle. No major obstacles, but the mud and narrow trail can make it a bit more challenging than the surrounding roads. Overall, this trail stays on the easier side but can feel moderate in wetter conditions.
