Winding through heavily wooded terrain with a maximum elevation of 664 feet and roughly 551 feet of elevation gain, this route is easily manageable for high-clearance 2WD vehicles in dry conditions, though 4WD is recommended when wet. The drive features multiple shallow crossings over Mill Creek and showcases the beautiful, dense forest of Hickman County as it passes scenic hollows like Flowers Hollow, Gid Hollow, and McAllister Hollow. Navigating the trail from east to west is highly recommended for newcomers, as this direction allows drivers to descend the single rocky section rather than having to climb it, making the route's primary obstacle much more approachable. The trail's surface is predominantly dirt, but seasonal changes heavily influence the driving experience, with late fall, winter, and early spring bringing increased mud, slick spots, and deeper creek crossings. During the summer, a rewarding swimming hole awaits travelers near Peacock Hollow at the western end, making it an excellent warm-weather destination. While the technical difficulty is relatively low with a rating of 2 out of 10, drivers should remain alert for a few larger rock obstacles and changing water levels in the creek after heavy rains, especially near the shadow of Buzzard Roost. To reach the trail from the Nashville area, take Interstate 40 West to State Highway 46 in Dickson, head south to State Highway 100, then turn west before taking Wrigley Road to the eastern trailhead.
