Trail Overview

Trail 62 in Windrock Park offers offroaders an engaging, scenic climb that serves as a key connecting route to the expansive Caryville Flats. This 1.1-mile trail is ideal for drivers of stock four-wheel-drive vehicles and SxSs looking for a moderate challenge without extreme risks. Starting at an elevation of 2,447 feet, the track climbs steadily, gaining approximately 455 feet of elevation to top out at 2,890 feet. Along the route, drivers will navigate a mix of dirt and rock surfaces featuring mild washouts, small to medium rocks, and occasional medium ledges that require careful tire placement. Because of the dirt and rock composition, wet weather can dramatically alter the trail's difficulty, turning minor washouts into deeper, more challenging ruts after heavy rains. Windrock Park requires land-use permits for all vehicles and passengers, which must be purchased prior to entering the trail system. This route integrates seamlessly with trails G54 and 66, allowing offroaders to construct a longer loop or multi-trail itinerary through the rugged Anderson County terrain. The lush forest canopy provides excellent shade in the spring and summer, while autumn brings vibrant foliage views across the ridges.
