Trail Overview
This road is an easy 4.6-mile one-way road that leads to a popular Black Hill spot, Flannigan's Cabin, aka Miner's Hotel. The road traverses through various terrain and is wider on the south end and just wide enough for a side-by-side or Jeep on the north end. There are a couple of cattle gates that you need to go through along the way. After recent rain, the road can be quite muddy, but no deep mud holes. On the north end of the trail, there is a turnaround and ample parking for 20+ vehicles. Two hiking trails are found off each end of the parking area. To get to Flannigan's Cabin, take the walking trail for an easy 10-minute hike along Slate Creek leading to the Miner's Hotel.
Access Description
The route traverses public land within the Black Hills National Forest. Drivers must open and close two cattle gates along the way. While the southern end is wide, the northern end narrows to widths suitable for SxSs and Jeeps.
