Trail Overview
Rocky Gulch is a scenic, 4.7-mile single-track trail in South Dakota's Black Hills National Forest. Geared toward beginner off-roaders and dirt bike riders, the route winds through dense forest with tight corners and narrow passages, spanning elevations between 4,312 and 4,825 feet.
The trail surface features soft dirt and loose rocks, which can become slick and technical in wet or winter conditions. Access is directly off US Highway 16, across from Bretta Road.
Access Description
The trail is located within the Black Hills National Forest and is publicly accessible. There are no fees or permits required specifically to travel this route, but vehicles must comply with South Dakota off-road vehicle registration and regulations. While open year-round, winter weather can dramatically increase the difficulty of this narrow route.
