Trail Overview

Devil's Head 6660 is a 5-mile-long single track through the Black Hills. The western portion makes a loop off of a Jeep road, and then it continues east to make a semi-circle south to the same dirt road. You'll find a mix of easy and moderately challenging sections throughout the route, with lots of rocks, and maybe a couple of downed logs. The trail goes through a mix of deciduous trees, widely separated pines, and grassy meadows, with lots of sunshine and scenic areas. The trail is often covered in loose rocks, pine needles stick debris, and medium-sized embedded rocks. The easy sections are where it winds through the pines and cuts across the forest floor with small rocks in the trail. The harder spots are when the trail gets steeper as it goes up and down the rolling hills. The trail climbs up and then descends back down frequently throughout the trail. Some of the climbs have small embedded rock ledges about a foot high or less. It should still be relatively easy for average riders. This trail is open 5/15 - 12/15 for motorized use.
