Trail Overview

This is a fun Loop on some rougher dirt roads, one section on Faust Road is quite challenging due to some huge ruts. Another section follows the Allegheny River with some nice views. There are lots of other dirt roads in the area to explore for a longer day. Please respect private property along the route!

Difficulty

Most of the trail is more like a 2-3, but one section is at least a 4 due to the very large ruts. This section hasn't been maintained by the county in at least seven years and just keeps getting worse every year, by worse I mean more fun!

Echoing Williams update, looks like the township gave these roads some attention. You could safely take any 2wd car on them now. Really took all the fun out of it. They were pretty technical and rocky/rutted before.

Appeared to be recently graded, all the rutted out areas were gone. Was 95% paved or maintained gravel. You could do this loop in most everyday commuters. A few steep gravel portions would be the most challenging part. Didn’t even need 4WD. The scenery was absolutely beautiful.

There is a broken down car in the middle of the path @ about 41.04473, -79.62416. It is possible to get around it.

Trail is 90 percent gravel roads. One section is probably ranked a 4 road is washed out and have to choose you’re line carefully.My buddy and I made it through in a stock gladiator and stock Tacoma it was a fun section to test the suspension travel!

Sections of the trail other users reported having large ruts and requiring a decent vehicle have been graded through by the local road department. So the fun section seems to be gone. This loop has some rough, chunky gravel roads with occasional exposed bedrock. It did not require anything more than 2WD in my Tremor.

Went on a wet day, it was super washed out from the rain and the rutted areas were pretty challenging. One of the more extreme trails I’ve found in western pa. Majority of trail is just dirt and gravel road, the few rutted sections are where you need a pretty capable vehicle.
