Trail Overview
Rock Run Lane is a typical state forest graded gravel, with the last 1/3 being dirt and more rutted. It is an up-and-back trail and runs to private property with a gate. This trail has plenty of parking spaces, given 3 separate locations and a few hiking trails. There is not much in the way of big timber, but smaller brushes and saplings. This trail is great for bike rides and walking a pet. In winter months, cross-country skiing, and in summer months, trail running and hiking. The trail is easily accessible during the summer months, and more difficult to traverse in cold winter months due to snow and ice, with no winter maintenance.
History
The area is rooted in the intensive lumbering era in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, which was transformed into a recreational hub in the 1980's. It is a part of the Rock Run trail system. The area has a History of several forest fires, and needed to be reforested through natural regeneration and intentional plantings. The recreational parts to this trail is Cross Country Skiing, trail running, and hiking.
